This information is to to help you prepare for your pets portrait session.
Dogs:
I have found exercise to be our best friend. I recommend vigorous exercise for about 1 - 1.5 hours right before the portrait session. This ensures that we have worn off lots of energy thus making both your and my job easier! If you don't have time to exercise your pup before bringing them in, I would suggest taking them to a Doggy Daycare during the day of your portrait session.
I have treats and water supplied, but if your pup has a favorite treat, special treats due to allergies or toys they get really excited about; please feel free to bring them along.
If your dog is well behaved and takes commands off leash; I would suggest doing the portraits outdoors as there tends to be more variety outside. If you have a young dog or one that does not do well off leash I would recommend setting up a session in-studio.
Horses:
Horses, like dogs also do well with a bit of exercise before the session. Please have oats or other treats available that perk the horses attention. I will also have some reflectors along to hopefully interest the horse and get those ears forward.
All horse sessions are done on location; so I am flexible if we have to reschedule due to weather.
Cats:
Cats tend to not travel well, so I recommend doing cat sessions on locations, most likely at the cats home. The goal with cat photography is to try and use window light and let your cat relax. Treats and toys that your cat enjoys are also helpful to have on hand.
Kittens tend to do better with travel than cats, so if you are looking for a studio session bring your furry friend in while they are still young. The goal is to not stress your beloved pet anymore than we have to. Their best interest is of the utmost importance.
