This information is to to help you prepare for your portrait session. Get a good night’s rest the night before your portrait session, and drink plenty of water in the day leading up to the session. (Please note that the below advice is for both guys and girls, so some may not apply).

Clothes:
Bring a variety of outfits that fit you well including a classic top (medium to dark tone) to use for your traditional yearbook pose.

Avoid the following:
- clothes that are too tight
- extremely loose fitting
- clothes with words
- stripes
- loud patterns

Dress from head-to-toe and don’t forget to bring accessories that you may want to be photographed with (guitar, bike, car, dance, pet, etc)!

Grooming:
Trim, file, and remove old polish from your nails. Lather on lotion to avoid dry looking, patchy skin.

Hair:
Style your hair in a way that best represents YOU! If you plan on getting a haircut, try to schedule it a couple of weeks out so that you have time to manage any dislikes.

Keep in mind that a cut may reveal untanned skin during the summer.  The use of hairspray helps to tame loose ends that may catch light and reflect in a portrait. Guys, please sport a fresh shave. Five o’clock shadows cannot be retouched.

Make-Up:
Make-up should be worn no heavier than you would for an evening out. Even if you don’t normally wear make-up, we suggest a light foundation or powder to reduce shine and even-out skin tones.

Powder is even great for guys to use, and yes we promise no one will ever be able to tell you’re wearing it! Heavier make-up applied near the end of your portrait session is fun for dramatic black & whites.

Glasses:
To avoid a reflective glare from your eyeglasses, opt to wear contact lenses instead or ask your optometrist about borrowing an empty pair of frames that match your style.

Parents and/or Friends:
It is always nice to have someone along with whom you feel comfortable. This person knows you and how you look naturally which can be a great help to the photographer. Parents and/or a friend is always welcome but bringing all 10 of your best friends can be a bit much.

Expectations:
Expect to have a great time. This is your year to shine! If you have idea's we want to hear them. There is no limit to locations or outfits but a good rule of thumb is 1-2 locations and 3-4 outfits to really showcase who you are; but still keep it fun and enjoyable. Most sessions with 1 location and two outfits last approx. 1 hour; while 2 locations and 3-4 outfits tend to run a bit closer to 2 hours.

If you have any questions between now and your session, please don't hesitate to contact.
